Edelman Financial's 31,28 €M Bitcoin ETF Bet Surpasses Amazon Stake

Edelman Financial Engines, a registered investment advisor overseeing 299,92 € billion in client assets for approximately 1.3 million clients, has recently revealed a significant stake in spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). According to its latest regulatory filing, covering the quarter ending June 30, 2026, the firm has invested 31,28 € million in these financial instruments.

While this amount represents a minimal fraction, roughly 0.012%, of the firm's total portfolio, it carries notable symbolic weight. This Bitcoin ETF holding now surpasses the value of its stake in Amazon, a global e-commerce and technology giant, which is valued at 23,00 € million. This comparison underscores the increasing confidence among traditional asset managers in Bitcoin as a viable investment option.

Edelman's 31,28 € million allocation is strategically divided between two leading spot Bitcoin ETFs: Blackrock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which has emerged as the market leader in assets under management since its 2024 launch, and Grayscale's flagship Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC). Tudor Investment Corporation, led by billionaire trader Paul Tudor Jones, reported holding 688,529 IBIT shares, valued at 21,07 € million, an increase from the previous quarter.

JPMorgan Chase has significantly boosted its stake in Blackrock's IBIT ETF, raising its investment to approximately 327,52 € million, up from 149,04 € million three months prior. The bank has also diversified its holdings by adding exposure to XRP. Meanwhile, wealth management firm UBS has more than quadrupled its position, reaching nearly 82,80 € million, growing from about 549,000 shares at the end of 2025 to roughly 2.5 million shares as of June 30, 2026.

Banco Santander has also entered the spot Bitcoin ETF landscape, filing its first-ever disclosure with 129,615 IBIT shares worth 3,97 € million. Collectively, 563 registered investment advisors reported 3,22 € billion in Bitcoin ETF holdings by mid-2026, indicating broad adoption within the industry.

The next disclosure window, expected in mid-November, will reveal whether Edelman and the wider wave of advisors following JPMorgan, UBS, and Santander into spot Bitcoin ETFs will continue their accumulation activities or pause, especially after a quarter marked by volatility in the cryptocurrency market.
