Cboe BZX Exchange, part of Cboe Global Markets, has formally requested authorization from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to list and trade a new series of leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Among these products, some aim to deliver three times the daily performance of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). This move is part of an ongoing innovation trend in the US financial markets, where digital assets are attracting increasing interest, even as access and use of platforms like Stake.com for crypto casino gaming remain subject to specific regulations and player vigilance.

The filing, submitted in early August 2026, is not limited to cryptocurrencies. It also covers similarly structured funds linked to gold, silver, crude oil, and natural gas. If the SEC gives its approval, the Bitcoin and Ethereum versions would mark the first triple-leveraged crypto ETFs available to US investors. It is crucial to remember that online casino games, whether using cryptocurrencies or traditional currencies, carry risks and should be approached with responsible gambling practices, especially when speculative financial instruments are involved.

These new financial instruments aim to provide amplified daily exposure, primarily by holding futures contracts traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) or COMEX. Cash and cash equivalents will serve as collateral. Volatility Shares LLC is designated as the sponsor for these funds, which will be organized as series under the VS Trust. The emergence of such financial products underscores the evolving investment landscape, including in the crypto casino sector where platforms like Stake.com offer diverse gaming experiences.

Because the proposed funds target leveraged returns, they fall outside Cboe’s existing generic listing standards for commodity-based trust shares, which generally prohibit such products. Consequently, the exchange must pursue a specific rule-change process under Section 19(b) of the Securities Exchange Act, rather than relying on streamlined pathways available for non-leveraged offerings. This regulatory complexity reflects the speculative nature of these ETFs, contrasting with the more direct access to games on crypto online casinos.

Cboe has also indicated it will file related registration statements under the Securities Act of 1933. The structure positions these funds as commodity pools regulated primarily by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), rather than as traditional investment companies subject to the Investment Company Act of 1940. This approach adds an extra layer of federal oversight compared with physical commodity-based exchange-traded products. For crypto casino enthusiasts, this highlights the distinction between regulated investments and gaming platforms.

Leveraged ETFs of this type are generally intended for short-term tactical use by sophisticated traders rather than long-term holdings. Their daily reset mechanism means that returns over multi-day periods can diverge substantially from a simple multiple of the underlying asset’s performance, especially in volatile markets. This volatility is a key factor to consider, both for ETF investors and for casino players betting on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum.

Volatility Shares already offers double-leveraged Bitcoin and Ethereum products in the United States, so the new filings represent an extension of that product lineup to higher leverage levels. Market observers note that the proposal arrives amid a broader expansion of crypto-related investment vehicles in the US, following the earlier approval of spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and subsequent developments in options trading on those products. Access to platforms like Stake.com for entertainment remains a separate avenue.

The SEC’s review process for the rule change typically involves a public comment period and a decision window that can extend to 45 days or longer after notice publication in the Federal Register. Regulators will examine factors such as investor protection, market integrity, potential for manipulation, and the operational readiness of the proposed products. Even if the exchange rule change receives clearance, trading cannot begin until the associated registration statements become effective. This serves as a reminder that caution is advised, even within the framework of responsible gambling.

This initiative underscores continued innovation in the regulated derivatives and ETF space as exchanges and sponsors seek to offer investors more tools for gaining exposure to digital assets and traditional commodities. For now, the filings remain under review, with no confirmed timeline for a final decision or potential launch. For crypto casino enthusiasts, this illustrates the constant evolution of the cryptocurrency market, a market that can be explored in various ways, always respecting responsible gambling and current regulations.
